1. What "Compatible" Means on This Website
How we define and communicate compatibility in our product listings
When a product listing on The Phone Supply Co. states that a product is "compatible with" or "designed for" a specific smartphone model, operating system, charging standard, or accessory type, that claim is sourced directly from the manufacturer's official product specifications and packaging. We do not independently test every product with every listed device model, and we do not create our own compatibility claims separate from those published by the brand.
Compatibility as used in our listings means that the manufacturer has represented the product as being designed to function with the listed device or standard under normal use conditions. It does not mean that the product will function identically across all hardware revisions of that model, across all operating system versions, or in combination with every other accessory the customer may own.
What "Compatible" Does Mean
- The manufacturer has tested and certified the product for use with the listed device model(s).
- The physical dimensions, connector type, or wireless standard align with the listed device's specifications at the time the product was manufactured.
- The product is intended to deliver its core advertised function (protection, charging, audio) with the listed devices under standard conditions.
- The product listing accurately reflects the compatibility information published by the manufacturer as of the date this listing was created or last updated.
What "Compatible" Does Not Mean
- That the product is manufactured, endorsed, or warranted by the device maker (e.g., Apple, Samsung, Google).
- That compatibility will be unaffected by future operating system updates, firmware changes, or hardware revisions.
- That the product will work identically with every color variant, storage variant, or carrier-locked variant of the listed model.
- That the product will work in combination with other third-party accessories not tested together by the manufacturer.
- That full functionality (e.g., maximum wireless charging speed) is guaranteed on every listed device without a compatible power adapter.
2. Phone Cases & Protective Covers
Fit, cutout accuracy, and model-specific limitations
Phone cases sold by The Phone Supply Co. — including cases from brands such as Kate Spade and other protective accessory brands — are designed and manufactured to fit specific smartphone models. Physical fit is the most critical compatibility factor for cases: a case designed for an iPhone 15 will not fit an iPhone 15 Pro, an iPhone 14, or any Samsung Galaxy device, even if the devices appear similar in size.
Physical Fit & Cutout Accuracy
Model-Specific Fit
Each case is cut and molded for a named device model (e.g., iPhone 16, Samsung Galaxy S25). The listing specifies the exact compatible models. Cases are not universally sized and will not fit unlisted models even of similar physical dimensions.
Button & Port Cutouts
Cutouts for buttons, charging ports, speakers, and cameras are designed for the exact port and button placement of the listed model. Minor manufacturing tolerances are normal. Cutout positions may not align with hardware variants (e.g., cases for standard models may not fit "Plus," "Pro," or "Max" variants with different camera arrays).
MagSafe & Wireless Charging Through Cases
Cases listed as "MagSafe compatible" or "wireless charging compatible" support these functions under the conditions described. See Section 5 for detailed MagSafe and Qi2 compatibility information.
Using a Case with a Screen Protector
Cases and screen protectors are not guaranteed to be compatible with each other unless both are from the same brand and listed as a designed pair. See Section 9 for details on case and screen protector combinations.
Case Compatibility Limitations
- "iPhone-Compatible" Listings: "Compatible with iPhone" used in a general sense on collection pages means the collection includes cases for various iPhone models, not that any single case fits all iPhones. Always read the individual product listing for the exact supported model.
- Color and Storage Variants: Physical cases should fit all color and storage variants of the same model generation (e.g., iPhone 16 128GB and iPhone 16 512GB have the same chassis). If in doubt, verify with us before ordering.
- Previous-Generation Devices: A case designed for a newer model will not fit a previous-generation model even if the names are similar (e.g., iPhone 15 case ≠ iPhone 14 fit).
- Carrier-Locked or International Variants: Physical dimensions are identical for carrier-locked and unlocked variants of the same model sold in the U.S. Cases will fit across these variants.
- Aftermarket Modifications: If your device has been modified with a non-original back glass, extended battery, or other physical alterations, case fit is not guaranteed.
3. Screen Protectors
Size accuracy, edge coverage, cutout placement, and adhesion
Screen protectors — including tempered glass protectors, privacy screens, and film protectors from brands such as ZAGG — are precision-cut to match the exact screen dimensions and curvature of specific smartphone models. Fit accuracy depends on correct model identification. Using a screen protector on a different model than listed will result in misalignment, exposed screen edges, or coverage of buttons and cameras.
Fit & Dimensions
Screen protectors are sized to the exact millimeter dimensions of the listed device's display, including accounting for curved edges where applicable. A protector listed for the iPhone 16 (6.1 inch) will not correctly fit the iPhone 16 Plus (6.7 inch) even though both are in the iPhone 16 lineup.
Edge-to-edge protectors require precise placement during installation. Minor misalignment during installation is an installation issue, not a product defect, provided the dimensions match the listed device.
Privacy Screen Protectors
Privacy screen protectors limit the viewing angle to approximately 30–45 degrees from center, making the screen appear dark when viewed from the sides. This is a design feature, not a defect.
Privacy screens reduce screen brightness as perceived from the front as well. This is inherent to the technology. Privacy screens are compatible with the same device models as standard screen protectors from the same product line.
In-Display Fingerprint Sensors
For smartphones with in-display ultrasonic or optical fingerprint sensors (such as select Samsung Galaxy models), screen protectors must be explicitly listed as "fingerprint sensor compatible." Standard tempered glass protectors may interfere with the accuracy of in-display fingerprint readers on certain devices.
Always confirm that the screen protector you are purchasing is tested and listed as compatible with your specific device's fingerprint sensor technology before purchasing.
- Case Lifting: Some screen protectors, particularly tempered glass variants, may lift at the edges when used with certain phone cases due to the case pressing against the protector's edge. This is a physical interaction between the two products, not a product defect in either item. See Section 9.
- Front Camera Cutouts: Screen protectors include cutouts for front-facing cameras. Dynamic Island (iPhone 14 Pro and later) and punch-hole camera designs have different cutout requirements. Purchasing a protector designed for a model without a Dynamic Island and using it on a Dynamic Island model will result in a mismatched cutout.
- Oleophobic Coating: The anti-fingerprint coating on tempered glass protectors will wear down over time with normal use. This is a characteristic of the product, not a manufacturer defect.
- Adhesion and Air Bubbles: Air bubbles immediately after installation often dissipate within 24–48 hours. Persistent bubbles may indicate dust particles under the protector during installation. Installation conditions (a clean, dust-free environment) affect adhesion quality.
4. Charging Solutions — Cables, Wireless Chargers & Power Banks
Connector compatibility, charging speed, and power delivery standards
Charging accessories sold by The Phone Supply Co. — including the ApexCharge Station Qi2 15W Magnetic 3-in-1 Wireless Charger by Vista ($129.95), USB-C cables, Lightning cables, wall chargers, and power banks — are compatible with specific connector types, power delivery standards, and device models. Achieving advertised charging speeds depends on several factors outside the charger itself.
Connector Type Compatibility
USB-C
USB-C cables and chargers are compatible with devices equipped with a USB-C port. This includes iPhones from iPhone 15 onward (Apple switched from Lightning to USB-C with the iPhone 15 lineup), all modern Android smartphones, tablets, and laptops with USB-C ports. USB-C is also the standard for most new Android devices.
Lightning
Lightning cables and chargers are compatible exclusively with Apple devices that use the Lightning connector: iPhone models through iPhone 14, AirPods (most generations), and select iPad models. Lightning is NOT compatible with USB-C devices. If you own an iPhone 15 or later, you need USB-C, not Lightning.
USB-A (Standard USB)
USB-A wall chargers are compatible with USB-A to Lightning cables and USB-A to USB-C cables. USB-A chargers generally support lower wattage than USB-C Power Delivery chargers. Maximum charging speed on USB-A is typically 12W or 18W, depending on the charger.
Charging Speed & Power Delivery
Achieving the maximum advertised charging speed for a product requires that all components in the charging chain support the same fast-charging standard. Fast charging does not work when any one component in the chain (cable, charger, or device) does not support the stated standard.
- USB Power Delivery (USB-PD): Required for fast charging on iPhone 8 and later with USB-C chargers. The cable and wall adapter must both support USB-PD at the required wattage.
- Qualcomm Quick Charge: Required for fast charging on select Android devices. The charger and device must both support the same Quick Charge version (e.g., QC 3.0, QC 4+).
- Wattage Limitations: A 65W charger connected to an iPhone that supports maximum 30W charging will charge at 30W — the device's maximum. The charger will not damage the device by providing excess wattage; it will simply operate at the device's supported maximum.
- Wall Adapter Not Included: Unless the product listing explicitly states that a wall adapter is included, wireless chargers, cables, and charging stands require a separately purchased USB power adapter to function.
5. MagSafe & Qi2 Compatibility
Magnetic alignment standards, maximum speeds, and supported devices
MagSafe and Qi2 are magnetic wireless charging standards that use built-in magnets to align the charger with the device for maximum wireless charging efficiency. Understanding the distinction between these standards, standard Qi wireless charging, and how they interact with each other is critical to ensuring you receive the performance you expect.
MagSafe (Apple)
MagSafe is Apple's proprietary magnetic wireless charging and accessory attachment system, introduced with iPhone 12. It delivers up to 15W wireless charging on compatible iPhone models (iPhone 12 and later with a MagSafe-certified charger and a 20W+ USB-C PD adapter).
MagSafe-certified chargers: Apple's MagSafe certification (the "Works with MagSafe" badge) is controlled by Apple. Only chargers carrying this certification have been validated by Apple to deliver 15W. Non-certified chargers, including products marketed as "MagSafe compatible" without Apple's badge, charge at standard Qi speeds (up to 7.5W on iPhone) rather than the full 15W MagSafe speed.
Supported devices for full 15W: iPhone 12, 12 mini, 12 Pro, 12 Pro Max, iPhone 13 series, iPhone 14 series, iPhone 15 series, iPhone 16 series, and later models with MagSafe support. AirPods Pro (2nd generation and later) with MagSafe case also support MagSafe charging.
Qi2 (Wireless Power Consortium)
Qi2 is an open wireless charging standard developed by the Wireless Power Consortium, launched in 2023. It delivers up to 15W wireless charging on Qi2-certified devices and is based on the same magnetic alignment technology as MagSafe. Qi2 is not proprietary to Apple.
ApexCharge Station Qi2 15W: The Vista ApexCharge Station in our store is Qi2 certified. It delivers up to 15W on Qi2-compatible devices. On iPhones with MagSafe (iPhone 12 and later), this charger will function at up to 15W. On older iPhones supporting standard Qi, it will charge at up to 7.5W. On Android devices with Qi2 support, it delivers up to 15W.
Standard Qi backward compatibility: Qi2 chargers are backward compatible with standard Qi-enabled devices. Standard Qi charging speeds (5W–10W depending on device) apply when using a Qi2 charger with a non-Qi2 device.
| Device Type | Charging Standard Supported | Max Speed on Qi2 Charger | Power Adapter Required |
|---|---|---|---|
| iPhone 12, 13, 14, 15, 16 series | MagSafe / Qi2 / Qi | Up to 15W | 20W+ USB-C PD adapter required for 15W |
| iPhone SE (all generations), iPhone 8–11 | Qi only (no MagSafe) | Up to 7.5W | Standard USB-C adapter |
| Samsung Galaxy S24 series and later (Qi2-enabled) | Qi2 / Qi | Up to 15W | Compatible USB-C PD adapter |
| Samsung Galaxy S23 and earlier (no Qi2) | Qi only | Up to 10–12W | Standard USB-C adapter |
| Google Pixel 8, 9 series (Qi2 supported) | Qi2 / Qi | Up to 15W | Compatible USB-C PD adapter |
| Standard Qi Android devices (no Qi2) | Qi only | Up to 5–10W | Standard adapter |
| Non-Qi Android devices | No wireless charging | Not Compatible | Wired charging required |
6. Audio Accessories — Earbuds, Headphones & Speakers
Bluetooth version compatibility, companion apps, and feature availability
Audio products sold by The Phone Supply Co. — including the Skullcandy Indy Evo True Wireless Earbuds, Beats Solo 4, Beats Solo Pro, and JBL Xtreme 2 — connect to devices via Bluetooth. Bluetooth is a cross-platform wireless standard that works across the vast majority of modern smartphones, tablets, and computers. However, certain advanced features may require specific hardware or software support.
Bluetooth Compatibility
All audio products in our store use Bluetooth for wireless connectivity. Bluetooth is supported by virtually all modern smartphones, including iPhone, Samsung Galaxy, Google Pixel, OnePlus, and other Android devices. The standard is backward compatible — a Bluetooth 5.0 headphone will connect to a device with Bluetooth 4.2, though some features requiring the newer version may not be available.
Minimum requirement: Any smartphone or tablet with Bluetooth 4.0 or higher will establish a basic connection with our audio products. Audio quality at Bluetooth 4.0 versus 5.0 will vary based on the device and environment.
Multipoint connectivity (connecting to two devices simultaneously) is available only on headphones that explicitly list this feature (e.g., Beats Solo 4). Not all headphones in our catalog support multipoint connectivity.
Apple-Specific Features (Beats Products)
Beats products, including the Beats Solo 4 and Beats Solo Pro, offer enhanced features on Apple devices due to Apple's H1 or W1 chip (depending on the model):
- One-tap pairing: Available on iOS devices. Not available on Android.
- Hey Siri: Hands-free Siri activation. Available on iOS only.
- Automatic switching: Auto-switching between signed-in Apple devices. Requires iOS / iPadOS / macOS with iCloud sign-in.
- Battery level in iOS notification tray: Shows remaining battery life directly on iPhone. Not displayed natively on Android.
Core audio playback, volume control, and basic call functionality work on all Bluetooth-enabled devices, including Android. Advanced Apple-exclusive features require Apple hardware and iOS/macOS.
Companion Apps & Feature Availability
Skullcandy App: The Skullcandy app (iOS and Android) enables EQ customization, Tile tracking setup, and other features for Skullcandy products including the Indy Evo. Core functionality works without the app, but some features require it.
Tile Integration (Skullcandy Indy Evo): The built-in Tile tracking requires the Tile app (iOS and Android) and a Tile account. Tile works on both iPhone and Android but requires the app to be installed and the user to be logged in.
JBL Connect+ / JBL Portable App: JBL products may have companion apps that unlock additional EQ settings. Consult the specific product's documentation for app availability and supported OS versions.
Active Noise Cancellation (ANC)
Active Noise Cancellation, where featured (such as on the Beats Solo Pro), uses microphones to detect and cancel ambient sound. ANC performance does not depend on the connected smartphone — it is processed in the headphone hardware. However, ANC settings or modes may be adjustable via a companion app on compatible devices.
IP / Water Resistance: Where listed (e.g., Skullcandy Indy Evo IP55), the rating indicates resistance under tested conditions. IP55 means the device is protected against dust ingress and water jets from any direction. This rating does not mean the product is waterproof or safe for submersion.
7. Third-Party Brand Compatibility Claims
Our relationship to device manufacturers and brand name usage
The Phone Supply Co. is an authorized retailer of products from brands including Beats by Dre, JBL, Skullcandy, Kate Spade, ZAGG, Belkin, mophie, and Vista. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or an authorized retailer of Apple Inc., Samsung Electronics, Google LLC, or any smartphone device manufacturer.
Use of Device Brand Names in Listings
Product listings on this website use smartphone brand and model names (e.g., "iPhone 16," "Samsung Galaxy S25," "Google Pixel 9") for the sole purpose of accurately communicating which devices the listed accessory is designed to fit or work with. This use is purely descriptive.
The use of these names does not imply:
- Sponsorship or endorsement by Apple Inc., Samsung Electronics Co., Google LLC, or any device manufacturer.
- Official partnership or authorization status beyond our retailer relationship with the accessory brands we carry.
- That the accessory product is made by the device manufacturer.
Apple®, iPhone®, MagSafe®, and other Apple-owned trademarks are the registered trademarks of Apple Inc. Samsung® and Galaxy® are registered trademarks of Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. Google® and Pixel® are registered trademarks of Google LLC. These trademarks are used in this listing only for descriptive compatibility identification purposes.
Authorized Distribution
All products sold by The Phone Supply Co. are purchased through authorized distribution channels. This means:
- Products are genuine, brand-name items — not counterfeits, gray-market goods, or unauthorized copies.
- Compatibility information in our listings originates directly from the manufacturer's official product documentation, packaging, and specifications.
- Manufacturer warranties are valid and passed through to the end customer where the manufacturer's warranty terms allow.
- We do not modify, repackage, or alter products in any way that would affect their labeled compatibility specifications.
8. Operating System, Firmware & Software Compatibility
How software updates may affect product compatibility
Compatibility information provided in product listings reflects the manufacturer's published specifications at the time the listing was created or last updated. Software-dependent features — such as Bluetooth codec support, companion app functionality, fast-charging protocols, and wireless charging behavior — can be affected by operating system updates, firmware updates pushed to the accessory, and changes to device driver behavior.
iOS Updates
Apple releases iOS updates that can change how accessories interact with iPhones. Notable historical examples include changes to Lightning accessory authentication, modifications to MFi (Made for iPhone) certification requirements, and changes to how Bluetooth audio codecs are negotiated. The Phone Supply Co. cannot guarantee that accessories purchased today will maintain full functionality following future iOS updates, as we do not control Apple's software releases.
If an iOS update reduces or eliminates a feature on an accessory within the standard 30-day return window from the date of purchase, contact us to discuss options.
Android Updates
Android releases and manufacturer-specific overlays (Samsung One UI, Google Pixel UI, etc.) can similarly affect how accessories function, particularly Bluetooth codec support, fast-charging standards, and wireless charging behavior. Since Android is deployed across many manufacturers with varying update schedules, the exact behavior of an accessory with a specific Android device and OS version may differ from the manufacturer's general Android compatibility statement.
For Android compatibility questions about a specific device model and OS version, contact us or the accessory manufacturer directly before purchasing.
9. Using Cases Together with Screen Protectors
What to expect when combining two protective accessories
Many customers use a phone case and a screen protector simultaneously to provide comprehensive device protection. While this combination generally works well, there are specific compatibility considerations when combining products from different brands or even from different product lines within the same brand.
Edge Lifting Risk
Full-coverage tempered glass screen protectors extend to the very edge of the phone's display. Some phone cases apply pressure to the screen protector's edge due to the case's raised lip design. This can cause the screen protector to lift at the edges over time.
This is a physical interaction, not a defect in either product individually. Products that are specifically designed and tested to work together (such as ZAGG's screen protector + case bundles) are less likely to exhibit this behavior.
Camera Cutout Interaction
Phone cases that include raised camera surrounds or frame the camera bump area may affect how a screen protector fits if the screen protector extends beyond the display glass toward the edge near the camera. Always verify that the case's camera opening does not overlap with the screen protector's edge on your specific device model.
MagSafe Cases + Glass Protectors
MagSafe-compatible phone cases are designed with a built-in ring of magnets. Tempered glass screen protectors placed over the front of the device do not interfere with MagSafe functionality, as MagSafe operates on the back of the phone. However, the thickness of a case combined with a screen protector may affect the fit of MagSafe accessories that wrap around the phone edge.
10. What Is Not Guaranteed
Clear statement of limitations — no ambiguity, no exceptions
The following items are explicitly not guaranteed by The Phone Supply Co. in connection with product compatibility claims. These limitations apply regardless of the compatibility information stated in a product listing and are in addition to, not in replacement of, the limitations described in our Warranty Policy and Terms of Service.
Compatibility Not Guaranteed
- Future OS/Firmware Versions: Continued compatibility after software updates released after the date of purchase is not guaranteed.
- Non-Listed Device Models: Compatibility with any device model not explicitly listed in the product listing is not guaranteed, even if the device appears physically similar.
- Maximum Charging Speeds Without Required Adapter: Achieving the maximum advertised wireless or wired charging speed is not guaranteed without use of a compatible power adapter that meets the required wattage specification.
- Third-Party Accessory Combinations: How a product interacts with other third-party accessories not sold or tested together is not guaranteed.
- Screen Protector Adhesion After Removal: Screen protectors that have been applied and removed cannot be guaranteed to re-adhere properly.
- Carrier-Specific App Features: Features that depend on carrier services, network connectivity, or carrier-specific apps are subject to carrier policy and are outside the scope of accessory compatibility.
- Modified, Rooted, or Jailbroken Devices: Compatibility with devices that have been rooted, jailbroken, or otherwise modified from factory condition is not guaranteed and may void applicable warranties.
Performance Claims — Context Matters
- Battery Life Estimates: Battery life claims (e.g., "30-hour battery" for Skullcandy Indy Evo) reflect manufacturer testing under specific, controlled conditions. Real-world battery life will vary based on volume level, audio codec in use, ambient temperature, and Bluetooth connection quality.
- Drop Protection Ratings: Military-grade drop protection (MIL-STD-810G) ratings for cases reflect performance in standardized tests. Real-world drop outcomes depend on the surface, angle, and force of impact. No case guarantees prevention of all damage under all drop conditions.
- Waterproofing / IP Ratings: IP ratings apply to the product in new, undamaged condition. Damage to the product (cracked seals, worn gaskets) reduces or eliminates water resistance. Water resistance is not permanent or guaranteed over the lifetime of the product.
- Bluetooth Range: Advertised Bluetooth range is measured in open air under ideal conditions. Walls, interference from other wireless devices, and environmental factors reduce effective range.
11. Manufacturer Product Changes & Model Variants
How mid-cycle hardware revisions, regional variants, and product updates affect compatibility
Smartphone manufacturers occasionally release hardware revisions mid-cycle — for example, changing an internal component, altering camera placement, or modifying a charging port — without changing the public model name. Accessory manufacturers may or may not update their products to reflect these changes. The Phone Supply Co. publishes compatibility information based on what the accessory manufacturer provides. We cannot guarantee compatibility with unreleased or unannounced hardware revisions.
Hardware Revision Variants
Some smartphone models are sold with minor hardware differences based on the production batch, region, or carrier. While physical dimensions are typically identical across variants of the same named model for U.S. distribution, differences in antenna configuration or internal component placement have historically affected accessory compatibility in rare cases.
If you are purchasing an accessory for a device you recently purchased and are concerned about a recent hardware revision, contact us before ordering and we will check whether any known issues have been reported.
Regional Variants
We ship exclusively within the United States. All products in our catalog are sourced for the U.S. market. Products and devices purchased internationally may have different physical dimensions, charging standards, or connector types than U.S. variants. We cannot guarantee compatibility between U.S.-spec accessories and internationally-purchased devices.
For example, some international iPhone models sold in certain regions have different SIM tray configurations or antenna designs. While cases generally fit across regions for the same model, contact us if you have a device purchased outside the U.S. and are unsure about compatibility.
