How We Collect Your Information

We collect personal information through the following channels. We do not purchase personal data from data brokers or obtain personal information from outside sources not listed here.

Directly from You — Checkout

When you place an order on our Shopify store, you provide your name, shipping address, billing address, email, and phone number. Payment details are processed directly by Shopify Payments, PayPal, or your chosen payment provider — we never see or store your full card number.

Account Creation

If you choose to create a Shopify customer account on our website, we collect your email address and the password you create (stored in encrypted form). Account creation is entirely optional — you can check out as a guest without creating an account.

Support Communications

When you email us at support@thephonesupplyco.com, call +1 (319) 775-5011, or use our live chat, we collect the content of your message, your name, and your contact information in order to respond to and resolve your inquiry.

Cookies & Automatic Collection

Our Shopify store uses cookies, pixels, and similar tracking technologies to collect browsing data such as pages visited, products viewed, session duration, browser type, device type, and IP address. This data helps us operate the store, analyze traffic, and (where applicable) deliver relevant advertising.

Advertising & Analytics Platforms

We use third-party services including Shopify Analytics, Google Analytics, and (where active) Meta Pixel or similar advertising tools. These services may place their own cookies and collect data governed by their own privacy policies. We do not control what these platforms collect independently.

Reviews & Feedback

If you leave a product review or complete a customer satisfaction survey, we collect the content of your review and any contact information you voluntarily include. Reviews submitted publicly may be displayed on our product pages.

How We Share or Disclose Your Information

We share your personal information only in the limited circumstances described below. We do not share personal information with unrelated third parties for their own independent marketing or commercial purposes without your opt-in consent.

Shopify (E-Commerce Platform)

Our store runs on Shopify Inc. Your order data, account data, and browsing activity within our store are processed by Shopify as a service provider on our behalf. Shopify's own privacy practices are described at shopify.com/legal/privacy.

Payment Processors

Payment data is processed by Shopify Payments, PayPal, Shop Pay, or other payment providers you select at checkout. These processors handle your card or account data directly under their own security and privacy programs (PCI DSS-compliant). We receive only a payment confirmation and the last four digits of your card.

UPS (Shipping Carrier)

We provide UPS with your name and shipping address to fulfill and deliver your order. UPS may independently collect data related to your delivery (e.g., delivery confirmation, GPS scan data). UPS privacy practices are at ups.com.

Analytics & Advertising Services

We use Google Analytics and may use advertising pixels (such as Meta Pixel) that collect browsing and conversion data. These services act as third parties and may use the data they collect for their own purposes, including cross-site tracking. California residents may opt out — see Section 06.

Legal & Law Enforcement

We disclose personal information when required by valid legal process — such as a court order, subpoena, or regulatory request — or when we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to prevent fraud, protect the safety of our customers, or comply with applicable law.

Business Transfers

If The Illustrious King Limited Co. is acquired by, merges with, or transfers substantially all assets to another company, your personal information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will provide notice before your information becomes subject to a materially different privacy policy.

Sale and "Sharing" of Personal Information

California law draws a distinction between "selling" personal information (transferring it for monetary consideration) and "sharing" it (disclosing it for cross-context behavioral advertising purposes). Both are subject to your right to opt out under the CCPA/CPRA.

Do We Sell Personal Information?

We do not sell your personal information to third parties in exchange for money. We have not sold personal information in the past 12 months and do not intend to do so. We do not sell information about children under 16 under any circumstances.

Do We "Share" Data for Advertising?

We may use advertising pixels (e.g., Meta Pixel, Google Ads) that send your browsing and purchase behavior to these platforms for the purpose of showing you our ads on other websites or apps. Under the CPRA's expanded definition, this constitutes "sharing" personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, even without payment. You have the right to opt out of this sharing.

4

Global Privacy Control (GPC)

We honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) browser signal. If your browser or browser extension is configured to send a GPC signal when you visit our site, we will treat it as an opt-out of sale and sharing of personal information for that browsing session and link it to your account if you are logged in.

No Penalty for Opting Out: Opting out of the sale or sharing of your personal information will not result in any difference in price, product availability, service quality, or any other aspect of your shopping experience with us. See Section 13 for our full non-discrimination policy.
Sensitive Personal Information

The CPRA (effective January 1, 2023) created a new category called "Sensitive Personal Information" (SPI) and grants California residents the right to limit our use of it. Here is our transparent disclosure of whether we collect any SPI.

Sensitive Information We Do NOT Collect
  • Social Security number or government ID numbers
  • Full financial account, debit, or credit card numbers with security codes
  • Precise geolocation (GPS coordinates)
  • Racial or ethnic origin
  • Religious or philosophical beliefs
  • Union membership status
  • Genetic or biometric data
  • Health, medical, or sex life information
  • Sexual orientation or gender identity
  • Contents of private communications (mail, email, texts) unless we are the intended recipient
Account Log-In Credentials

If you create a customer account on our Shopify store, you provide a password. Passwords are hashed and stored by Shopify using industry-standard encryption. We cannot view your password in plain text. This technically qualifies as SPI under CPRA, but its use is strictly limited to:

  • Authenticating your account login
  • Preventing unauthorized access to your account
  • Resetting your password upon request
Right to Limit: You have the right to direct us to limit the use of your SPI to the purposes listed above. To exercise this right, email support@thephonesupplyco.com with subject "Limit Use of Sensitive Information."
How Long We Retain Your Information

We retain personal information for no longer than is reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Disclosure or as required by applicable law. The specific retention periods below apply to the categories of information we collect.

Information Type Retention Period Reason
Order records (name, address, items ordered, price paid) 7 years IRS and state tax record requirements; fraud investigation support
Payment method type and last 4 digits 7 years Financial records compliance; chargeback and fraud defense
Shipping records and carrier tracking 7 years Carrier claims; return window disputes; tax records
Customer support communications 3 years from last interaction Dispute resolution; quality assurance; legal claims
Customer account data (if account created) Until account deletion is requested + 90 days Account functionality; may be extended if open orders or claims exist
Browsing / session / cookie data Up to 24 months Website analytics; product improvement

Privacy rights request records 5 years CCPA/CPRA compliance recordkeeping requirement
Deletion Requests: If you request deletion of your personal information under CCPA/CPRA, we will delete (or direct our service providers to delete) the information we are not legally required to retain, within 45 calendar days of verifying your identity. See Section 09 and Section 10 for how to submit a deletion request.
Your California Privacy Rights

California residents have the following rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), effective January 1, 2023. These rights are not theoretical — they are legally enforceable, and we honor each of them.

  • Right to Know (Cal. Civ. Code § 1798.110) You have the right to know: (1) the categories of personal information we have collected about you; (2) the categories of sources from which we collected it; (3) the business or commercial purpose for collecting or sharing it; (4) the categories of third parties with whom we share it; and (5) the specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you. You may request this information covering the prior 12 months. We respond within 45 calendar days.
  • Right to Delete (Cal. Civ. Code § 1798.105) You have the right to request that we delete personal information we have collected about you. Upon receiving and verifying your request, we will delete your information from our records and direct our service providers to do the same — except where we are legally required to retain it (e.g., tax records, fraud investigation records, or information needed to complete a pending transaction). We will tell you which categories, if any, we are retaining and why.
  • Right to Correct (Cal. Civ. Code § 1798.106) — CPRA Addition If you believe that personal information we hold about you is inaccurate, you have the right to request that we correct it. We will use commercially reasonable efforts to correct inaccurate information, taking into account the nature of the information and the purposes of our processing. We will respond to correction requests within 45 calendar days.
  • Right to Opt Out of Sale or Sharing (Cal. Civ. Code § 1798.120) You have the right to direct us not to sell or share your personal information with third parties for cross-context behavioral advertising purposes. We do not sell personal information for money. We may share data with advertising platforms — and you can opt out of that sharing at any time using the link on our Do Not Sell or Share page or via our Privacy Opt-Out Request Form.
  • Right to Limit Use of Sensitive Personal Information (CPRA) You have the right to direct us to limit the use of your sensitive personal information to only what is necessary to provide the services you requested. As described in Section 07, the only SPI we collect is account login credentials, and its use is already limited to authentication purposes. To formally exercise this right, email support@thephonesupplyco.com.
  • Right to Data Portability (Cal. Civ. Code § 1798.110) As part of your Right to Know, you may request a copy of the specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you. Where technically feasible, we will provide this in a portable and, to the extent technically feasible, readily usable format that allows you to transmit the information to another entity.
  • Right to Non-Discrimination (Cal. Civ. Code § 1798.125) We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of your CCPA/CPRA rights. This means we will not deny you goods or services, charge you a different price, provide you a different level or quality of service, or suggest that you will receive a different price or quality of service because you exercised your privacy rights. See Section 13 for our full non-discrimination commitment.
  • Right to Use an Authorized Agent (Cal. Civ. Code § 1798.135) You may designate an authorized agent to submit a rights request on your behalf. We require written authorization signed by you (or proof of Power of Attorney) and will verify your identity directly before honoring the request. See Section 12 for full authorized agent instructions.

What Happens After You Submit a Request
1

Acknowledgment — Within 10 Business Days

We confirm receipt of your request within 10 business days and provide information about our verification process and expected timeline for responding to your specific request.

2

Identity Verification — See Section 11

To protect you from unauthorized requests, we verify your identity before processing any Right to Know, Right to Delete, or Right to Correct request. Opt-out requests do not require identity verification.

3

Response — Within 45 Calendar Days

We respond to your verified request within 45 calendar days. If we need more time (up to an additional 45 days), we will notify you in writing before the original deadline and explain the reason for the extension.

4

Delivery of Response

Responses are delivered via the same method you used to contact us (email, phone, or online form). For Right to Know requests, we deliver the information in a readily usable format. For deletions, we confirm what was deleted and what (if anything) was retained, and why.

5

No Fee — Two Free Requests Per Year

We provide responses to privacy rights requests at no charge for up to two requests per 12-month period. If you submit more than two requests in a 12-month period, or if requests are manifestly unfounded or excessive, we may charge a reasonable fee or decline to act — we will inform you of either decision before proceeding.

How We Verify Your Identity

Verifying your identity before we process a privacy rights request is not a barrier — it is a protection. It ensures we do not accidentally disclose or delete your personal information in response to a fraudulent request. Here is exactly how our verification process works.

For Customers With an Order History

We verify your identity by matching at least two data points: (1) the email address you used to place an order, and (2) a recent order number, the billing ZIP code used for payment, or the name on the order. This is the simplest verification path for most customers.

For Customers With a Shopify Account

If you have a registered Shopify account on our website, we may send a verification link to the email address associated with that account. Clicking the link confirms your identity and authorizes the request.

For Requesters Without an Account or Order

If we cannot verify your identity through order or account data, we will ask you to provide a signed attestation confirming that you are the California resident whose information is the subject of the request. We will provide you with the specific form to complete.

Opt-Out Requests — No Verification Required

Requests to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information do not require identity verification. You may submit an opt-out via our Do Not Sell or Share page without providing any identifying information beyond what is necessary to process your request.

If We Cannot Verify: If we are unable to verify your identity after good-faith efforts, we will notify you, explain why verification failed, and inform you of any alternative methods available. We will not process a Right to Know or Right to Delete request where we cannot reasonably verify your identity, as doing so could put your information at risk.
Submitting Requests Through an Authorized Agent

California residents may designate an authorized agent to submit privacy rights requests on their behalf. To protect you from fraudulent agent claims, we require the following documentation before honoring a request submitted by an agent.

Required Documentation
  • Written authorization signed by you (the California resident) explicitly authorizing the named agent to act on your behalf for CCPA/CPRA privacy requests; OR
  • Power of Attorney executed in accordance with California Probate Code §§ 4000–4465
  • The agent's full name, contact email address, and relationship to you
  • Sufficient information to identify you (the requesting individual) so we can locate your information in our records
How to Submit an Agent Request

Email your agent's request and supporting documentation to:

Subject: "Authorized Agent — California Privacy Request"

We will confirm receipt within 10 business days. We may contact you directly (not the agent) to verify your identity and confirm that you authorized the agent, unless you have provided a valid Power of Attorney.

Non-Discrimination Commitment

California Civil Code § 1798.125 prohibits businesses from discriminating against consumers who exercise their CCPA/CPRA rights. We take this obligation seriously. Here is our explicit commitment.

Equal Access to Products

We will not deny you the ability to purchase any product in our store, or restrict your access to any part of our website, because you exercised a California privacy right.

Same Prices for Everyone

Exercising your privacy rights will not result in a different price, a surcharge, or removal of any discount or promotion that is otherwise available to you. All customers pay the same prices regardless of their privacy choices.

No Service Quality Difference

You will receive the same shipping speed, support responsiveness, return processing, and product quality whether or not you have exercised any CCPA/CPRA right.

No Retaliation or Negative Treatment

We will not make you feel unwelcome, suggest that your experience will be worse, or take any action that could reasonably be perceived as a penalty for exercising your privacy rights.

Financial Incentive Programs: We do not currently operate any financial incentive, loyalty program, or price discount that is conditioned on your providing, not deleting, or allowing the sale of personal information. If we introduce such a program in the future, we will provide clear notice and obtain your opt-in consent as required by Cal. Civ. Code § 1798.125(b).
Children and Minors Under 16

We take the privacy of minors very seriously. The following policies apply specifically to individuals under 16 years of age.

Our General Policy on Minors

Our store, The Phone Supply Co., is intended for adult consumers (age 18 and over). We do not knowingly solicit, collect, or maintain personal information from individuals under 16 years of age. If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected personal information from someone under 16, we will delete it promptly.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe we have collected personal information from a minor in your care, please contact us immediately at support@thephonesupplyco.com with the subject line "Minor Data Removal Request."

California Opt-In Requirement for Under-16

Under Cal. Civ. Code § 1798.120, if a business has actual knowledge that a consumer is under 16, it may not sell or share that consumer's personal information without affirmative opt-in consent — from the minor themselves if aged 13-15, or from a parent/guardian if under 13.

Because we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16, this opt-in requirement does not apply to our operations. However, if we ever discover we have collected data from a consumer under 16, we will not sell or share that data under any circumstances.

COPPA Compliance: We also comply with the federal Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA, 15 U.S.C. § 6501 et seq.). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
